We can’t remember what it was like before her.
That’s what my neighbors said when I visited them this weekend and met their baby girl. This little precious bundle of joy has completely changed their lives.
Just this past Friday, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) opened the public comment period for the Protect Life Rule, President Trump’s proposed update to the Title X family planning program and I can’t help but think about the impact it will have on future parents – how many more “We can’t remember what it was like before her” moments will come to pass as lives are saved.
The proposed update to the Title X family planning program would direct taxpayer funds away from the abortion industry. Here are two quick facts about the Protect Life Rule excerpted from an email sent out just this past Friday from Brad Mattes, President of Life Issues Institute and speaker on Life Issues:
- The rule would disentangle taxpayers from the abortion business. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, is responsible for more than 300,000 abortions a year and has been receiving $50-60 million in Title X taxpayer funds annually.
- The rule directs tax dollars to Title X centers that do not promote or perform abortions – such as the growing number of community and rural health centers that far outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities – without reducing family planning funding by a dime.
As Brad shares, what’s also vitally important to know in regards to the Protect Life Rule and the public comment period is that once the comment period expires, HHS will review the comments and then the rule will go into effect,
There is only a very limited timeframe for us to submit our comments. It is imperative that we stand behind President Trump who has shown such strong leadership for LIFE and submit a tidal wave of comments in support of his new Protect Life Rule. We know that Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby are desperately trying to stop President Trump’s Protect Life Rule, doing everything they can to flood HHS with negative comments.
