Engaging with the right people at the right time is the key to finding the best time to post on social media.
Why do the best times to post on social media matter?
It’s the algorithm effect.
Recency is one of the major elements that play a part in showing your post on social media feeds. The most recent posts are prioritized to rank higher on the feeds over days or week-older posts.
While there is no single best time to post on social, with the help of picking the best times to post, you can maximize the chances for your radio audience to both see and engage with your posts.
Having said that, the reality is it’s difficult to know when to post across social networks to maximize engagement.
There is a global best time to post on social media. And, there is data that displays certain days and times that prove higher engagement across a majority of the social media platforms.
The Hootsuite team analyzed thousands of social media posts on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to see if certain days and times universally get more engagement than others. Using an audience of roughly 8 million followers, they looked at posts across their social media channels to figure out the best and worst times to post.
What they found was that generally, the best time to post on social media overall is 9:00 AM PST (12:00 PM EST) on Mondays.
But every network has its prime spot:
- The best time to post on Facebook is 10:00 AM PST on Mondays.
- The best time to post on Instagram is 9:00 AM PST on Mondays.
- The best time to post on Twitter is 9:00 AM PST on Fridays.
- The best time to post on LinkedIn is 1:00 PM PST on Mondays.
- The best time to post on TikTok is 1:00 PM PST on Sundays.
Now that you’re aware of the best averages across the board, it is important to experiment yourself and learn about the performance of your own radio station’s content on different social platforms. Make it your goal to optimize and leverage your posts to go out when the majority of your listeners on the platform are active.
It may take a “miss” here and there, (trial and error is part of the journey!), but here’s to finding that sweet spot of the best time to post on social media for your radio station.
