An apologist is someone who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.  A Christian apologist defends the faith by presenting proofs from the Bible.

There are many respected Christian apologists today, but the truth is, every Christian should be an apologist as stated in 1 Peter 3:15:

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have . . .

Writing to ministry supporters this month, Colson Center President John Stonestreet shared . . .

Chuck Colson said our culture would only be transformed “over the backyard fence and around the barbeque grill.”  He’s right. The only way you and I can effectively influence our families, neighborhoods and workplaces for Christ is to engage culture in the everyday nitty-gritty of life.

Which leaves us with a responsibility: We’re called to understand our culture and to understand God’s Word. And then we must become apologists so that we can speak with clarity, confidence and courage about the pressing issues of our day.

“. . . but do this with gentleness and respect.”

It’s not enough that we have a knowledge of Scripture; we must love people, too. As John concludes here . . .

Ultimately, having a Christian worldview isn’t an end in itself, but the means by which we seek to win souls for Jesus!

And we thank you for your partnership through BreakPoint radio as we seek to help inform, equip and unite Christians on every significant issue of our day. You are playing an important role in training up a new generation of everyday apologists!
