There’s a cute little park down the street from my condo that I go to all the time.
I go to read. I go for picnic dates. I go to get all of the energy out of our puppy :). And I love that it’s in walking distance!
On the 4th of July, Brian and I did just that—we walked to the park, enjoyed breakfast burritos, and threw a frisbee around for our mini Australian Shepherd. It was the perfect start to a day off before heading into the 4th festivities!
As we were leaving the park, we ran into a nice woman who I noticed was carrying a garbage bag and gloves. I watched as she walked through the park and picked up … garbage!
Brian and I were amazed that she came to the park by herself, on a holiday, and did so with a welcoming and upbeat spirit—kindly greeting anyone that walked by!
As we drove out of the parking lot, I thought about Steve Douglass’ daily 1:00 radio feature, Making Your Life Count.
Each day, Cru welcomes various guests to challenge listeners in their faith, growth and fruitfulness. Through stories and practical examples, Steve Douglass provides numerous ways in which we can truly “make our lives count” for God’s glory.
And it all ties together with Cru’s mission of winning, building, and sending Christ-centered multiplying disciples!
When we got home from the park, Brian said, “We need more people in the world like that woman.”
More people that are willing to serve … more people that are willing to spread kindness … more people that are actively seeking to make their lives count.
