Philippians 4:6-7 exhorts believers …
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Yet, I often find my natural inclination in the midst of turmoil is to turn towards anxiety instead of to God. It can be difficult to know how to reverse that tendency, especially if it’s been a lifelong habit. Maybe your listeners are in the same boat.
In the wake of yet another shooting last week, Max Lucado’s continued commitment to encourage believers with tools to combat anxiety and embrace Christ’s peace couldn’t be more timely.
For your audience, a reassuring word or reminder of God’s love may be just what they need. To help you share that comfort, Max has released several resources for your talk show prep and social media or website posting:
- “Anxious for Nothing” webinar recording
- Square Quote Graphics (below—and follow @MaxLucado on Twitter, Instagram, & Facebook for more!)
- “Parkland, FL: We Need You, Lord” (prayer)
Max says: “Our minds cannot be full of God at the same time they are full of fear! Don’t get lost in your troubles. Lift up your eyes!”
By the way, Max just launched a five-week study for the Lent season. Check out the first installment here! I can’t think of a better way to reject worry than to focus on Christ’s sacrifice, humility, and grace.
