Have you ever felt abandoned by God? Experienced the feeling that no one is even hearing your cry for help? In Psalm 22:1 we are told that King David felt this way. He said “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?” Even Jesus called out these words from the cross “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” (Mark 15:34 NLT). I have been one of those people ─ and maybe you have too ─  thinking I’m praying, I’m reading the Word and I’m doing everything I’m supposed to be doing but where is God?

Recently I listened to a Sunday message from Pastor Carter at Times Square Church and in it he says  “in the midst of our storm instead of questioning His integrity, instead of questioning His faithfulness, we ought to make the choice to shout His promises back to Him” referencing Psalm 95.  Even in the midst of our troubles, we should “come to Him with thanksgiving, singing psalms of praise to Him,” (Psalm 95:2).

In upcoming It’s Time to Pray broadcasts on October 9th and 10th, Pastor Carter Conlon reminds us that we can learn a lot from those who came before us. We aren’t alone in life’s valleys. We can learn that when we come to the end of ourselves, God really is just beginning to show His power through our lives. He goes on to encourage your listeners to read Psalm 22 in full and to “let their cries be turned into a cry of hope for tomorrow.” Carter points out that “we all love the mountain tops,” but what he’s found is “that in the valley is when we learn who God really is. It’s in those moments that the whisper of God comes into our hearts to show us how faithful He really has been.” No matter the trials we face, we can trust Him and He will answer our cries!

You can provide encouragement like this from Pastor Carter Conlon to your listeners when you air his radio programs, “It’s Time to Pray,” a daily (1:00), or the weekly program of “A Call to the Nation” (24:55).
