As the ministry of Joni and Friends marks their 40th anniversary this year, Joni Eareckson Tada has been asked about the future of the ministry and what she hopes for.
Her response is one many of us can take to heart – whether we’re marking a milestone, facing a life change or even, simply anticipating the next day . . .
That we keep the main thing, the main thing.
Of course, she notes that they’d like to add more countries to Wheels for the World, and deliver more wheelchairs and Bibles. She notes she could also respond “Let’s have more Family Retreats. Let’s get more Cause4Life interns on campus.”
But when I wheel into our headquarters, the International Disability Center every morning, you know what my hope for the future is? That we keep the main thing, the main thing. Because it’s all about giving the good news of Jesus Christ to people with disabilities and their families. It’s all about sharing the Gospel, the life transforming, life-altering Gospel of the Lord Jesus. – Joni
It’s that simple and yet, that significant and, even with the best of intentions, so easy to lose sight of in the day to day.
When I look to the future, I think of this ministry being used by the Lord Jesus to expand His kingdom and bring many more people with disabilities into the Father’s house. That’s my dream for the future. – Joni
Thank you for your part in the ministry outreach of Joni and Friends – the most important part of all we do . . . sharing the Gospel!
