According to a recent Barna survey, “almost all practicing Christians believe that part of their faith means being a witness about Jesus and that the best thing that could ever happen to someone is for them to know Jesus (94% to 97%). Millennials in particular feel equipped to share their faith with others. For instance, almost three-quarters say they know how to respond when someone raises questions about faith, and that they are gifted at sharing their faith with other people (73%). This is higher than any other generational group.”
However, this same study surprisingly found that many Millennials question the actual practice of evangelism. Says the Barna survey: “Forty-seven percent of Millennials agree at least somewhat that it is wrong to share one’s personal beliefs with someone of a different faith in hopes that they will one day share the same faith.”

This reminded me of something that I heard John Sorensen, president of Evangelism Explosion, say on a recent Share Life Today broadcast. He said,

“What a shame it would be to get to Heaven, never having witnessed to anyone and never having experienced the joy of leading someone to the Lord! Our purpose in life is to bring God glory and share the story of what He has done to save us! Don’t miss out on this joy God intends for every believer to share in! I completely understand how scary it can be to share your testimony for fear of rejection, but be encouraged by the words of Moses in Exodus 14:13 –  Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today.”

Regardless of what our culture thinks, we all must share the great work of salvation found in Jesus Christ! For more witnessing tips, conversation starters or inspiring conversion stories, tune into John’s daily feature, Share Life Today or visit Evangelism Exposition’s website.
