When you think about your Christmas growing up, what do you remember the most? It seems to me that the longest standing memories are the family Christmas traditions.
Family traditions bond us closer together. They help our kids feel a sense of belonging. They create memories that will last a lifetime. And, frankly, Christmas just seems to be a time where we hold tighter to our traditions and to the memories that they create.
While we don’t have a long list of Christmas traditions in our home, we do have a few. One tradition is reading Twas the Night before Christmas in front of the fireplace. We always follow this classic holiday story with a reading of Luke 2 and a prayer. It’s not a tradition with a lot of fanfare, but it’s an important one.
There’s an important tradition in January which many hold dear – Sanctity of Life Sunday. Churches and pro-life groups around the United States use the day, (it falls on January 20th in 2019), to celebrate God’s gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit themselves to protecting human life at every stage.
Each year, Brad Mattes and the Life Issus Institute, record a 26:00 radio special to mark the day and raise awareness of the significant pro-life matters at hand. This year’s Sanctity of Life special, Breaking the Silence . . . from generation to generation, shares first-hand stories of women experiencing God’s grace, redemption and healing.
A third of all abortions are done with the chemical abortion pill. The abortion industry sells it as “natural, easy and painless.” It is none of these and women are speaking out. – Brad
Some traditions become part of the legacy we hand down to our children, while others are used to change hearts and minds of people to protect innocent human life . . . today!
